Rabbi Shlomo Ben Ze’ev (formerly Aaron Cowen, from Atlanta, Ga.) was born in the USA in a secular Jewish family. After returning to their Jewish roots, they made aliyah to the land of Israel in 1984.
After finishing high school, Shlomo (then) decided that he too wanted to
know something about Judaism and attended Yeshiva Ohr David for a year. Forfeiting his acceptance to the fighter pilots’ course, he went on to study in the hesder Yeshiva Sha’alvim where, after finishing his army service, he went on to study for another 12 years. During this time, he also attended the Yeshiva at Itri, finishing a BA and MA in Hebrew Letters and Jurisprudence. He also holds a B.Ed. from the Michlala learning center in Bayit v’Gan, Jerusalem.
Rabbi Ben Ze’ev is an ordained Rabbi, with semicha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He is a Sofer STA”M and magiha with over 25 years of
experience, a certified mohel (Jewish Circumcision) with over 10 years
of experience, and is a popular lecturer with the organization Nefesh Yehudi.
He has taught at many different Yeshivot including Sha’alvim, Orchos Chaim, Migdal ha’Torah, and Yeshiva Ohr David. He also served as a Rav in the Nahal Haredi/Netzach Yehuda battalion of the IDF for 5 years.
